Database Support Specialist
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance indatabase setup for new and existing customers
- Receive inbound support calls / emails and identify the level of support needed
- Resolve end user issues by clarifying the database problem; determining the cause of the problem; identify and explain the best solution to solve the issue; expediting the
database and software correction or end user adjustments; follow up to ensure resolution for end user - Test and troubleshoot new software releases
- Flexibility to work with peers across multiple time zones
Skills and Experience required:
- Solid knowledge of database theory and design
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with structured query language
- Experience with routine maintenance, recovery and failover handling of a database
- Experience with network configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and using diagnostic systems and tools
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Must have time management skills and the ability to balance multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, ability to work without direct supervision, a self-
starter to learn when the pace slows down - Excellent problem solving skills, including the ability to elicit valuable information on technical problems from non-technical users to resolve their problems
- Very strong attention to details
